In 1989, Toyota introduced Lexus.  The aim was simple- ‘to revolutionize the automotive experience with a passionate commitment to create the finest quality luxury vehicles’, supported by dealers offering ‘benchmark customer service- the most satisfying ownership experience the world has ever seen’. Lexus put these principles into words and called it the Lexus Covenant- ‘the pursuit of perfection in everything we do’; ‘the basis for every decision we make’; ‘cars that are designed with the driver in mind’.  In 2000, Lexus has become the top-selling luxury nameplate in the United States.
